It could preclude instances of getting shocked if touching something energized a hotplate and a device already installed in the home the stove, range hood etc..
Adding a ground rod would help. Also don’t run any high end appliances while on generator unless you keep a close eye on the fuel level. When the generator runs out of fuel, it dosen’t just stop, it runs down. While it is doing this it will decrease the amount of voltage to the house.

I think the hardest part might be getting the 50 amp breaker panel to fit in the available space. I would install a 50 amp plug on the trailer like the larger trailers have and get rid of the 30 amp cable compartment. Shoving the 50 amp cable in a little hole would probably not be very easy. You will also need to update the wire connection between the RV cable connection junction box where the exterior connection cable comes into the RV and the breaker panel.
Anything downstream from the panel can be left as is, assuming you install the same rated breakers on each of the individual circuits in the new panel. DAN I’m assuming you want to be able to run more stuff without blowing circuit breakers?? One different direction to go would be perhaps to put the 50 amp panel in the old cable compartment, then tie into the original circuit from there off a 30amp breaker in the panel, and wire new circuits from the new panel as needed.
Just throwing that out as an option if it better suits your needs, as it is potentially a little simpler.

Thanks for your concerns, my next door neighbor is a Licensed Electrician with 30 years experience. Why do you have a 50 amp breaker on the home unit instead of 40? I’m beginning to think that Lasareath here doesn’t quite have the knowledge yet to avoid burning his house down – these are all basic electrical questions and either one needs to do the research to learn them, or one should hire an electrician. For a short run like this, the cost should be nominal.
Certainly cheaper than dealing with a garage fire.
Dec 30, · For that, we’ll need a double throw (2 pole) 50 or 60 Amp (lots of current for a welder!) circuit breaker. Also available on Amazon for about 10 bucks. Before fiddling around in the box, turn off the main breaker where the mains lines come in!
Some welder manufacturer’s instructions are very clear in specifying the breaker size, the wire size and length and extension cord size and length. You need to know the primary or input current and the duty cycle for the rated output. The rules for welder circuits are different than those for general purpose branch circuits. The breaker and receptacle size depends on the welder. You can use an extension cord with your welder, it just needs to be the proper size and type. Type “SJ” Service Junior is rated at volts and has a thinner jacket than type “S” Service cords which are rated at volts.
If used outdoors it must also have a “W” Wet location in the description. Type SJ cords are lighter and more flexible than type S cords but are not recommended for heavy use or abrasive environments. A “T” in the cord type designates a Thermoplastic insulation and jacket, which would be stiffer and harder to work with than rubber.
Also, be aware that the nomenclature is not consistent when referring to cable, such as Romex, and cords. It common to refer to 3 wire with ground Romex as a 3 wire cable even though there are 4 wires in it , where a 3 wire cord is just that, a cord with 3 insulated wires.
